Who We Are

Avery L. Ingvarson (they/them) and Neil Klein (he/she) are an NYC-based writing duo with a focus on writing musical theater. Together they have written and collaborated on many projects including Isabella of Boston, The FTM Book Club, and are currently developing more musicals.

Avery is a playwright, dramaturg, director, art historian, and performer committed to accessible leftist theatre. They have a background in playwrighting and art history— making them the perfect book writer for Ingvarson and Klein projects.

Avery is passionate about theatre that is gender expansive, surreal, and about creating spaces on stage and in the rehearsal room that are inclusive and covid conscious.

Neil is a composer, writer, instrumentalist, and orchestrator. He believes in music and theater as one of the oldest and most important forms of collective storytelling. She has a background in classical piano and chamber music composition— making her the perfect composer for Ingvarson and Klein projects.

Neil is a firm believer in discovering new ways for theater to be accessible, physically and emotionally. He loves working with trans voices and writing music that celebrates our often varied and changing vocal types.
